A Three-Hour Workshop
Emotional Sobriety
and
Acceptance
With
Allen Berger, Ph.D.

2026
We are often told—rightly—that acceptance is the key to coping with life’s difficulties. When we accept a situation as it is, rather than as we wish it to be, we align ourselves with reality. This honest relationship with reality is essential for growth, maturity, and emotional stability.
Emotional sobriety depends on our capacity to learn from experience. For many of us, emotional development was interrupted—by trauma, addiction, family dynamics, or survival strategies that once protected us but no longer serve us. When learning stops, growth stops. Restoring our ability to learn from life as it unfolds is central to developing true emotional maturity.
ABOUT WORKSHOP-
What acceptance really means (and what it does not)
Why we resist accepting certain realities
The emotional and psychological barriers that keep us stuck
Practical ways to work through resistance and move toward acceptance
How acceptance supports emotional sobriety, resilience, and healthier relationships
This session offers both conceptual clarity and practical tools, supporting participants as they move from emotional reactivity toward greater self-awareness, flexibility, and emotional adulthood.
This three-hour workshop begins with a foundational teaching segment and then opens into an interactive second half, inviting shared exploration, dialogue, and individual questions.
